How can digital Learning help you in times of crisis?

What is Digital Learning?

This is the concept that designates the appearance of digital in certain training content. The term appeared in 1960, with the first training program introduced worldwide, PLATO. At first it was used only by university students from Illinois, then spread quickly in the region and to the world. But it was not until the 1990s that the word “e-Learning” came into being.

In the 21st century, new technologies are an essential part of the landscape of our society and of our daily lives. That is why Digital Learning courses have become accessible to everyone or almost everyone.

Our century is aligned with technological advances and progress as well as it is accompanied by a crisis that affects the entire population. In the context of Covid-19, when remote work is a forced measure and access to training is exclusively digital, we may ask ourselves how Digital Learning can help us personally and our business?

It allows you to continue learning on distance.

Indeed, it is a way to continue training. Face-to-face model is completely impractical, and it is not possible that millions of people of all ages stop learning at once. This is the case of many groups of people: pupils in college, moms in professional retraining or managers on professional trainings for the upcoming positions.

E-Learning will then be able to take over from thousands of face-to-face courses. Online training has been designed to give greater freedom to the learning formats. Therefore, no wonder in times of crisis from being an often neglected “option” they become an almost “mandatory” one. With this crisis, a big shift of concepts takes place, we learn while having fun and we have fun while learning. Short, playful and lively patterns allow you to no longer feel so isolated behind your screen.

Several e-Learning solutions are possible. We can think of a training for salespeople in the form of interactive videos. If it is a training for the release of a new service, it could be a Micro Learning. This bite-size format is clear, simple and fast, around 10 minutes.

It could be even a new internal process, based on a Serious Game… Possibilities are endless!

Certainly, these new practices may seem a bit utopian for some, but the next generations, already very skilled in a digital world, will have to accept this new learning method. Because, for all, the formation must not know a sudden stop

It’s a standardized tool

Standardized yes, but in what sense? Whether in a meeting for the older children or in a classroom for the younger ones, face-to-face format ensures uniform distribution. But what if it is not feasible, if it is necessary to find the best option so that everyone has access to the same information. Thanks to e-Learning, the same information can be transmitted simultaneously to many people on different scales: regional, national, or international.

Even in times of crisis, due to e-Learning, it is quite possible to continue training your teams. They will receive the same learning, they will approach the same concepts and will be evaluated in the same way. All this applies for learners who could be tens, hundreds or even thousands of kilometers from each other. Once back at their workplaces, they will be already autonomous learners.

The crisis will not reach the training! There are no barriers to learning.
